Tuscan Sun of the Indoors
When I think of Italy, I think about being in the warm Tuscan countryside. Everything is open and homey. Cooking is not just an everyday necessity, it is a happy ritual. It is no secret how Italians are passionate about food. They often associate this to family, love and joy. The kitchen should always be prepared to accommodate groups of people who work together to both prepare and consume the food.
This kitchen reminds me of that. The windows and doors let in that beautiful sun. They give this very light and airy atmosphere and comforting warmth. I adore the arch framed doors. They always make entrances softer and more welcoming. I also love how the windows can accommodate little pieces on it. I would love to use them for fresh spices and flowers which go particularly well with this Italian, country style kitchen.
A rustic concept always compliments the country lifestyle. Heavy timber furniture is always wonderful as it gives off that organic vibe. The long wooden table matched with plank benches centers the whole room perfectly. More than style itself, it also adds a lot of function. The raw finish makes it easy to maintain, it can accommodate more people, and, it’s convenient to work around in when preparing in the kitchen.
As your eyes draw further into the table, you are greeted by a delightful stone fireplace, a feature worthy of praise in any kitchen. The masterfully done concave ceilings hovering over it, give a little more character to the space. The wooden grains on this added some more warmth and ambience.
I love the ceramic tiles that lay on the wall. They’re fairly easy to maintain and the blue and white pattern gave this space a much needed splash of color whilst maintaining that certain calmness and vintage appeal.
The diverse choices on appliances and furniture work so well with the laid back concept. They all blend into this wonderful harmony of old and new, rough and flat, steel and wood. The space was so happily styled with a variety of textures from pans, utensils, logs and vases complimenting the wonderful eclectic mix.
The space was an admirable take on the cozy country style. Kitchens can sometimes be a messy hectic space which makes it such a nightmare. In this one,
though, it would be hard not to feel that Italian love for food, family and celebration.
